Ode to The Rising Self
Voyages over still black seas,
All led me gladly unto you
I saw you rise with burden bound
Your body bold with bloody hue
By sternest glare of Watchful Eye
To dark expanse of glass below
Did coldest fears fade then die
'Neath trembling feet the Earth did grow
Your path was overgrown but true
So straight you flew with guile and ease
O'er moonlit eaves and stony ground
To diamond caves and golden trees
Though aching weight was in your heart
Like Death-come-slumb'ring from his tomb
The sleepy clutch of comfort's start
Could stall you not nor bring thy doom
When velvet sheets were cast aside
The colds of truth came howling in
But blazing warmth of flame abound
Came blasting forth from deep within
Bejewelled amidst the stars of night
Your night-time glory rose and grew
So dwell instead in Shining Might
For death it seems is not thy due
